After a big year of racing and big mileage I’d had a bit of a slump over the festive period. I decided I needed to sign up to a coach to get me back up to speed and kick my mojo back into action.
I’ve been working with Colin for the last six months and he has consistently been there with good advice.
As someone who has ran for over 30 years, completed 2 Ironmans, several ultras including a first male on a hundred mile race and in a past life a PT myself I knew I wouldn’t be the easiest person to coach. Also like many I had a hectic personal life, working nights, having a seven year old at home and fitting everything around my wife’s work rota. That on top of a back injury and being knocked off my bike weeks before my big race all made training a challenge. Colin took all this in, discussed what I had available to me and worked on a plan that fitted around everything and made the right changes when things happened.
All his expertise, advice and encouragement paid of when I stood on the start line of ultra Scotland 100. All those sessions came together. The speed work, the hill reps, the strength training, the long runs, the cross training and most importantly the rest days.
With future races/projects in the diary or planning stages I’ll definitely be calling on Colin again for his expertise, might even drag him round a Bob Graham.
Thanks mate.

“I took Colin on as my coach in November, to help me achieve my Sub50 10km, which I got in a training run. I continued with his training plan and ended up with a 10k PB and a 5km during the same run on New Year’s eve 2023.
He then started on me on an Ultra Specific training plan and in January I hit 50km PB.
Then in March I ran a BYU completing 73km (11yards). I ran a BYU in 2023 and the difference in my running then, compared to the BYU in March 2024 was completely different.
Colin is now coaching me towards running The Lap of Windermere in May and my first 100km June which will all feed into training for the Arc of Attrition is January 2025.
What I enjoy most about the training is how flexible it is. Colin is always able to change things depending on my schedule. We have regular catch up calls and the advice I get is brilliant. I'd highly recommend Colin to anyone who is looking for a coach”

“I've been working with Colin (Trail Running Dude Coaching) for the past six months since recovering from an injury (soft tissue and nerve damage in my foot), focusing on both running and strength training.
My training has been complemented by regular catch up calls to monitor progress. Colin has gone above and beyond to tailor my training to improve my overall performance and minimise the risk of injury, coming up with solutions to adapt my training when needed and being approachable with any issues I have experienced.
The training plan created for me has been crafted to fit my schedule and works brilliantly. The distance I have been able to run post injury has increased and I have felt confident in the plan presented to me. What sets Colin apart is his commitment not only to my physical training but also my mental preparation. During our regular catch-up calls, he has provided great advice, motivation, and support which has helped me to stay focused on my goals.
For anyone looking to elevate their running and overall fitness, I totally recommend Colin. The expertise, personalised approach and support has been key to my progress”

I chose Colin as my coach towards the September 2023 to aid me in achieving my goal of obtaining my fitness and completing the Cambridge Half Marathon in March 2024.
Due to suffering with Epilepsy my condition has always made it difficult to maintain my fitness when I am fatigued or suffering from illness that may effect my Epilepsy, working with Colin who I can trust has created a training plan built around this which was perfect for me and my preparation towards race day.
Colin started me on a very slow and steady program that worked for me around work life, family life and my health restrictions always available for any questions and support that I needed.
The training plans are bespoke and perfect for me keeping my heart rate low and supporting me ‘don’t worry about the distance’ rule just having me go out for a run and set myself a running time to complete the rest will look after itself which it certainly did and my distance increased on every run.
I would highly recommend Colin for your training to anyone looking for your next coach towards your goals.
